Maldives Underwater 2010

Some pictures taken Scuba diving in the Maldives in June 2010. Dive sites in North Male Atol, South Male Atol & South Ari Atol: Cocoa Corner , Guidarhoo Corner,Kuda Giri Wreck, Alibab Thila, Kohlu Keli, Velagali Thila, Cata Thila, Kuda Bandos, Ranikan. A big thanks to my dive buddy Chris Colyer & our excellent dive guide, Jambay from Deep Blue Divers
So…you spend loads of money on Scuba diving (PADI actually stands for Pay. Another. Dollar. In) , then you get to see a fantastic Manta Ray, close enough to touch…while snorkelling. Unforgettable. June 18, Rah Dhigga Island.

Crikey, the Reef Shark looks a bit close for comfort. How big was it? And how fast did you swim away?

Actually I didn’t manage to get a picture of the really big shark we saw (and he saw us!) – it was a Grey reef shark about 8.5ft long. The ones in the photos are White Tip Reef Sharks, about 5.5 – 6.5 feet. Perfectly harmless & much better at swimming than Scuba divers!
