Maldives Underwater 2010

Some pictures taken Scuba diving in the Maldives in June 2010. Dive sites in North Male Atol, South Male Atol & South Ari Atol: Cocoa Corner , Guidarhoo Corner,Kuda Giri Wreck, Alibab Thila, Kohlu Keli, Velagali Thila, Cata Thila, Kuda Bandos, Ranikan. So…you spend loads of money on Scuba diving (PADI actually stands for Pay. Another. Dollar. In) , then you get to see a fantastic Manta Ray, close enough to touch…while snorkelling. Unforgettable. June 18, Rah Dhigga Island.

Crikey, the Reef Shark looks a bit close for comfort. How big was it? And how fast did you swim away?

Actually I didn’t manage to get a picture of the really big shark we saw (and he saw us!) – it was a Grey reef shark about 8.5ft long. The ones in the photos are White Tip Reef Sharks, about 5.5 – 6.5 feet. Perfectly harmless & much better at swimming than Scuba divers!

Fantastic photos – we’re going in Nov so hope to see lots also! You wore a full wet suit; we intended to wear shorties – what do you think?

Warmth wise you’ll be fine in shorties, but I always feel more comfortable in a full suit – If you are ever unlucky enough to catch exposed flesh on razor sharp coral you’ll see why! Have a great time in the Maldives folks….
